Planning & Zoning

In Lincoln, Planning and Zoning has three aspects, each intertwined with the other.

Planning: The Planning Commission, with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission, creates and updates the Zoning Regulations and the Town Plan, helping to assure that the Town develops in a way that maintains our natural beauty and viewshed while allowing for controlled growth. The Zoning Regulations and Town Plan inform and guide how Zoning is implemented and enforced.

Zoning: The Zoning function is to ensure that the Zoning Regulations are followed. Zoning has two aspects:
The Zoning Administrator receives permit applications, administers, and enforces the Zoning/Subdivision Regulations.
The Development Review Board is a quasi-judicial board that hears applications for unique situations, such as conditional use, waivers, or subdivisions, as well as appeals of the decisions of the Zoning Administrator.
