Vermont Town Meeting Day is the first Tuesday in March. In Lincoln, the Annual Town Meeting is usually held on the Monday night before Vermont Town Meeting Day, but in 2021 due to the pandemic, Lincoln’s Town Meeting voting will be held entirely by Australian ballot on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Burnham Hall. On Monday, March 1, 2021 at 6:00 p.m., the Selectboard will hold a virtual informational hearing to discuss the articles to be voted on by Australian ballot. No voting will happen during the informational hearing on Monday night. Remember to have your Town Report with you during the meeting, so you can follow along with the discussion. If you did not receive yours, please contact the town office before March 1 to get one.

Local Town Election (Vermont’s Town Meeting Day):
Due to the pandemic, the election of Lincoln’s Town and School officers and all articles on the Annual Town Meeting warning will be voted by Australian ballot on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The polling place to open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Burnham Hall, 52 East River Road. Voters are encouraged to vote early/absentee. Please request your ballot right away.
Nominations, Petitions for Candidate for Office:
Due to the pandemic, a petition is not required this year. Only a written consent of candidate form must be submitted to the Town Clerk, no later than 5:00 p.m. on the sixth Monday preceding the day of the election. A person consenting to be nominated may withdraw by notifying the Town Clerk in writing no later than 5:00 pm on the Wednesday after the filing deadline.

*New this year, Town Agent and Grand Juror are no longer elected positions. The Selectboard may appoint someone to fill these if needed.
Petitions for Articles to be included in the Warning:
The warning shall also contain any article or articles requested by a petition signed by at least five percent of the voters of the municipality, and filed with the Town Clerk not less than 47 days before the day of the Town Meeting. An organization requesting Town funds should file a short report explaining how Lincoln residents were helped by the organization, and a budget summary, which can be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office, if requested.
