Town Meeting Information
Vermont Town Meeting Day is the first Tuesday in March. In Lincoln, the Annual Town Meeting is held on the Monday night before Vermont Town Meeting Day – this year, Lincoln’s Town Meeting will be on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., upstairs at Burnham Hall. Remember to bring your Town Report with you to the meeting. If you did not receive one, please stop by the town office to pick one up, or there will be extras at the meeting. Please contact the Town Clerk at (802)453-2980 if you need to request childcare or need a ride to Town Meeting.
Local Town Election (Vermont’s Town Meeting Day):
Election of Lincoln’s Town and School Officers by Australian ballot voting is held on Vermont Town Meeting Day – this year it is Tuesday, March 3, 2020. The polling place is open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Town Office, 62 Quaker Street.
Presidential Primary Election:
Vermont’s Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the same time as the Local Town Meeting Election. The Polling Place is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Town Office, 62 Quaker Street. Early voting has begun already for this election. Contact your town clerk to request an absentee ballot. You must specify whether you want a Democratic or Republican ballot for the Presidential Primary.
Nominations, Petitions for Candidate for Office:
Nominations of the municipal officers shall be by petition. The petition shall be filed with the Town Clerk, together with a written consent of the prospective nominee to the printing of his/her name on the ballot, no later than 5:00 p.m. on the sixth Monday preceding the day of the election. A petition shall contain the name of only one candidate. A person consenting to be nominated may withdraw by notifying the Town Clerk in writing no later than 5:00 pm on the Wednesday after the filing deadline.

- One Lincoln Library Trustee (2 years remaining of a 3-year term)
Petitions for Articles to be included in the Warning:
The warning shall also contain any article or articles requested by a petition signed by at least five percent of the voters of the municipality, and filed with the Town Clerk not less than 47 days before the day of the Town Meeting. An organization requesting Town funds should file a short report explaining how Lincoln residents were helped by the organization, and a budget summary, which can be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office, if requested.
