WORK BEGINS TO UPGRADE QUAKER STREET

A road maintenance and drainage improvement project will begin on Quaker Street on Tuesday, September 4 and is expected to last for several weeks. We expect one-way traffic to be maintained throughout the project duration, but motorists should expect some delay. Please plan accordingly.

The project objectives are:

*remove and replace deteriorated culverts

*clean and stone line drainage ditches to effectively move water from the road surface and base structure

*reduce siltation and harmful discharges to Beaver Meadow Brook and the New Haven River

*grind and stabilize road base and apply new asphalt surface

This phase of the project will extend from approximately mailbox 1045 on the north to the Quaker Street intersection with Elder Hill. The extent of pavement will NOT be extended.

The next two phases of the project covering the full distance from Elder Hill to River Road are expected to be completed in 2019.

Acker Excavating will be doing the drainage work, D & F Excavating & Paving will be doing the paving work. The Town highway crew will be Bomagging the existing asphalt to prepare the road base for paving.

The Quaker Street project is funded by a VTrans Class 2 Roadway Grant , a Better Backroads Grant and town property taxes.

Your cooperation and patience will be appreciated. Thank you!
